The five Kurdish Universities partners of the TeachersMOD project, have implemented in the last months their local Training of Trainees (ToT), while the project is moving on towards the end. The Training of Trainees is a key moment in Capacity Building initiatives, when competences acquired during the training in Europe are passed to more trainees in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and beneficiary institutions build new competences engaging their staff in local training sessions. This generates a cascade effect, where more are trained to enhance the institutional performance adopting new practices and skills.
ToT sessions took place between September and October 2024, organised by and hosted in each of the Kurdish university participating in the TeachersMOD project. Each training session, focusing on the main topics related to innovative teaching methodologies, has seen the involvement of the university’s staff for almost a week of work.
Most of the trainers of the ToT took part, all along the project implementation, to the activities organised to build and strengthen capacities, such as the Field Visit at the University of Pavia, the field visit at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro and the University of Granada, besides the training hosted in September 2024 in Rome at the premises of UNIMED – Mediterranean Universities Union and the training hosted by the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro.
During the local training sessions, trainers and trainees gathered to discuss and know more about new teaching methodologies, problem-based learning methods, internships development, peace education, soft skills, working life skills, entrepreneurship, gender studies and more.
The local training scheme is developed as a path for sharing and transferring knowledge, good practices and competences, to contribute to the achievement of the project objectives in Basic Education Colleges, namely the introduction of new teaching approaches for a generation of graduates more prepared for their future careers and able to contribute to raising the level of education in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
