On December 16th 2024 The TeachersMOD project partners gathered in Rania, Kurdistan region of Iraq, at the University of Raparin, for a networking event. The event featured the universities’ Pedagogic Centers, which showcased their Action Plans aimed at improving teaching and learning practices and to provide an opportunity for critical reflection on the programme’s curriculum at the level of the pedagogical centres at university level. The Directors of the 5 University Pedagogical centres shared the primary goal of the Action Plans which is to equip partner universities across KRI with an improved training programme, with a particular emphasis on Special Education. The programme is designed to address emerging educational needs and better prepare educators for the challenges facing the region’s diverse student populations.
Key discussions at the event focused on the critical role of engaging both internal and external stakeholders in shaping the educational landscape facilitating the impact of Basic Education. Participants highlighted the importance of collaboration and input from various sectors, ensuring that the system is responsive and adaptive to changing demands.
Another significant theme discussed during the event was the need for more flexibility within the education system. Stakeholders emphasized the importance of adapting curricula to meet contemporary challenges and the evolving educational needs of students. This flexibility is seen as essential for fostering an environment in which educators and students can thrive in a rapidly changing world.
The event served as a platform for meaningful dialogue among educators, administrators, and stakeholders, all working towards a shared vision of a more inclusive and forward-thinking education system in the Kurdistan Region.
